What is EUROTOQUES

 

EUROTOQUES is a non-profit movement established in 1986 in Brussels. It consists of 2,500 members and is the official gastronomic organization of the European Union. Our members are Chefs, Confectioners, Restaurateurs, Hotel and Restaurant Managers, Professors of Hotel Schools, Nutrition Specialists, Enologists, Food Technicians, Food and Beverages Manufacturers, and in general anyone dealing with food and its problems.


Our main aims are:

 

1. Supporting local products, foods and beverages.
2. Supporting local production.
3. Safeguarding civilization and local culture.
4. Protection of good food.
5. Education and approach to traditional gastronomy as well as in other fields.
6. Benevolence, particularly towards children.

 

The aim of EUROTOQUES in Cyprus is to protect the rights of Cyprus after its accession to the European Union. The quality of the taste of food, the tradition of the Cyprus cuisine, the dangerous additives to food, and the impact of big companies onto local companies – these are our main concerns.

 

EUROTOQUES, without resisting contemporary methods and techniques of modern cookery, jointly believes that each member state has the right to maintain its distinctiveness and special characteristics, as long as the public is correctly informed of its choices.

 

EUROTOQUES in Cyprus backs many companies, both local and foreign, that respect our institutional regulations. Many of our members, who are not exclusively chefs, exchange ideas, ideals and aims regarding the future of gastronomy in Cyprus.

 

The International Offices of EUROTOQUES organize an annual general meeting in which all member countries are free to express their views regarding the European future.
 

EUROTOQUES has a rotating presidency between member countries.

 

EUROTOQUES in Cyprus organizes a series of events where all members are welcome to participate:

 

• A competition for the election of a Euro-chef
• Contacts with all the spectrum of Hotel Professionals
• Demonstrations of Pioneering Products and Services
• Benefits (without any personal gain to the association)
• Educational programs and Subsidized Exchanges in Europe
• Promotion of Cypriot Cooking in Cyprus and Abroad
• Acknowledgment from the European Union (Diplomas, Membership Card, etc)

 

HOW CAN YOU BECOME A MEMBER OF EUROTOQUES?

 

Many people ask how they can also become members of Eurotoques. There is nothing simpler! The first precondition is that you support and apply practically the aims of the association, regarding the quality of the products and the way of their preparation.

The following entities can become members of Eurotoques:

  • Foodstuffs’ schools
  • Restaurant managers
  • Restaurateurs or hoteliers
  • Chefs and cooks
  • Educators

And other similar individuals or groups

 

The first step is to ask at the secretariat of the association for an application form. You must return the completed form to the association and the Board of Directors will hold a meeting to study your application. After that, you pay your contribution and you become a member of Eurotoques.
